| Annual Cadillac Parade & Festival Images from previous parades
The Cadillac Parade first began in this historic neighborhood in 1946 and ran continuously until 1972. The 1996 revival by the Pennsylvania Avenue Redevelopment Collaborative (PARC) has been a huge local and regional draw for the neighborhood and the biggest event in the community each year, drawing attendance of up to 35,000. The parade features new and vintage models in mint condition and local and state dignitaries join in the mile long parade route before thousands of onlookers. The event has become a regional institution and garnering national media attention.
The neighborhood of Pennsylvania Avenue is on the cusp of experiencing revitalization and this parade is one of the many tools to help us keep that revival moving. The neighborhood was the home of Thurgood Marshall and home of the NAACP. Pennsylvania Avenue was the home of The Royal Theater, which regularly saw headliners like Cab Calloway, Eubie Blake and our own Billie Holiday rise to fame. This year's event will also highlight the memories of some of those great acts with bands and performances at the new Royal Monument. Morgan State University's Marching Band has been our premier marching band.
